Broughton Island Day Trip

Whether you’re a certified freediver or someone who simply loves snorkelling and being in the ocean, this trip is designed to give you an unforgettable day exploring some of the best offshore locations around Nelson Bay.

If you haven’t completed an official freediving course, you can still join in on the adventure. You’ll still get to snorkel, explore the islands, see incredible marine life and experience everything else the day has to offer.

Broughton Island Day Trip

Duration: 6 Hours
Location: Nelson Bay, NSW

This is our bigger island adventure — heading further offshore to explore Broughton Island, Cabbage Tree Island and some of our favourite dive and snorkel locations along the way.

Schedule

• Departure: 7:45 AM from Conroy Park, Corlette

• Return: Approximately 1:30 PM

• Travel time: Around 20 minutes to our first destination, followed by approximately 25 minutes to the next

• Dive locations vary depending on ocean conditions, visibility and marine life on the day

What You’ll Experience

• The Looking Glass at Broughton Island — one of the area’s most spectacular underwater locations, known for its dramatic scenery, marine life and resident grey nurse sharks

• Swim with Fur Seals & Grey Nurse Sharks — depending on the season and conditions, you may have the chance to share the water with some of our favourite local residents

• Dolphin Sightings — pods of common dolphins are regularly spotted offshore, sometimes numbering anywhere from 50 to hundreds

• Marine Life Encounters — keep an eye out for blue gropers, sea turtles, rays, whales in season and other pelagic species

• Multiple Dive Locations — rather than staying in one place, we’ll explore several of our favourite spots throughout the trip

• Incredible Scenery — rugged islands, clear water and some of the most beautiful offshore coastline in Port Stephens

Bring your own underwater camera or GoPro — there is plenty worth capturing.

• Freediving or snorkelling at several hand-picked dive locations

• Snorkelling with the local seal colony when conditions and season allow

• Freediving line training for certified divers, with our instructor in the water with you

• An experienced local skipper
