Wave 1 Freediving Course: Boat Dive

WAVE 1 FREE DIVING COURSE 

If you're completely new to the water or you've spent years surfing, spearfishing, or snorkelling, this Wave 1 course will give you the core skills to dive on a single breath with confidence. Learn how to equalise, relax, and move through the water in a way that feels effortless. You'll come away a  certified Molchanovs Wave 1 freediver. Connected to our Elementa  community of likeminded ocean lovers. 

What's included:

Expert instruction: Our team are qualified Molchanovs Wave instructors who live and dive the Port Stephens area. Our small 4:1 group sizes mean you get focused and tailored attention on your technique from the very beginning of your journey. 

We focus on where you're starting from and where you want to go. The course is relaxed, pressure-free, and built around your enjoyment and experience — not just ticking boxes.

International certification: Complete the course requirements and receive your Molchanovs Wave 1 freediver certification. This is recognised worldwide and your gateway to a safe and holistic experience in the world of freediving.  

Community: Community and connection are the driving forces of Elementa. You'll be welcomed into our growing community of freedivers across the NSW coast — connecting you with qualified dive buddies, Elementa expeditions, and social events.

Shore Dive vs. Boat Dive — what's the difference?

Shore Dive Course

• Dive sessions at our local dive site in Nelson Bay, NSW
• One guided pool session 
• Wave 1 course content
• Two separate days with time to integrate skills between sessions

Boat Dive Course

• Theory and pool session are integrated into day one, followed by a full-day boat trip on day two
• Boat trip to our stunning, local islands
• Two open water line sessions including an additional fun dive
• Possible encounters: grey nurse sharks, dolphins, fur seals, whales and other incredible marine life - season dependant. 

What do I need? 

Safe and correct gear is a must for freediving! Please ensure you have a wetsuit, weight-belt and weights, mask, snorkel and long fins.
