Take your freediving to the next level with the Molchanovs Wave 2 Advanced Freediver course, delivered by Elementa Freediving in the beautiful waters of Nelson Bay, Port Stephens.

Who is this for?

This 2 day course is for certified Wave 1 freedivers (or equivalent) and focuses on building confidence, refining technique and developing the skills to explore greater depths with control, efficiency and relaxation.

You'll gain a deeper understanding of the physiology behind freediving, learn how to work with your body's natural responses to depth, and develop the techniques needed to become a more capable and confident freediver.

With a combination of classroom learning, pool training and three dedicated open water line sessions, you'll have plenty of opportunity to put your skills into practice under the guidance of your instructors.

Your two-day course experience

Day 1 – Foundation, technique & preparation

Theory session | 1–2 hours

We'll begin with an in-depth theory session covering advanced freediving physiology, depth adaptation, relaxation, equalisation, safety and the techniques you'll be developing throughout the course.

Pool session | 2 hours

Put theory into practice with an extended pool session focused on breath-hold development, relaxation, technique and preparation for deeper open water dives.

Open water session 1 | Approximately 2 hours

Our first ocean session is designed to get comfortable back on the line, refresh your technique and build confidence ahead of the deeper dives on Day 2.

This session may take place at Little Beach, depending on conditions and logistics. We'll also aim to complete the required rescue training during this session, allowing us to dedicate more time to depth progression and no-fins diving on the following day.

Day 2 – Depth, progression & exploration

Open water session 2 | Approximately 2 hours

Time to put your new skills to work! We'll focus on progressing towards 30-metre dives, refining your freefall and developing your confidence at depth.

You'll also be introduced to Constant Weight No Fins (CNF), exploring the unique technique of descending without fins and developing the body awareness and efficiency needed for this style of freediving.

Boat diving session – Broughton Island

Weather permitting, we'll head out by boat to Broughton Island for our deep-water line sessions.

The full-day boat experience provides access to some fantastic freediving locations, with the opportunity to explore the area and enjoy an additional recreational freediving session. Depending on conditions, this may include a wreck or a visit to a grey nurse shark gutter.

We'll also film your dives so you can review your technique and see your progression firsthand.
